About the Designer.

Spencer Hope is an Industrial Designer based in Grand Rapids, MI. Originally from Washington state, he began his creative career at the Walla Walla Foundry, where he was surrounded by the process of casting and finishing sculptures for artists such as Jim Dine, George Condo, and Yayoi Kusama.

During that time, Spencer also co-operated a collaborative art space called Chrysalis Studios, where he and fellow artists explored themes of existentialism and anti-establishment philosophy through both traditional and experimental media.

Since relocating to Grand Rapids, Spencer has dedicated his practice to Industrial Design. His professional experience spans a range of product categories including bespoke furniture, contract furniture, lighting, consumer electronics, and packaging.

Across this variety of product categories, Spencer's design strategy remains grounded in Human-Centered Design, believing that through empathy, user advocacy, sustainability, accessibility, and equity, design can help shape systems and cultures toward a more positive future.
